Five checks before enrolling

  1. 1. Match the utility account. Confirm the project can assign credits to your exact service territory and rate class.
  2. 2. Confirm project status. Separate a planned project or waitlist from an operating project with open subscriber capacity.
  3. 3. Rebuild the combined bill. Add every provider payment and utility charge, then subtract credits using a sample bill.
  4. 4. Model the full term. Include escalators, fees, credit-rate changes and the guaranteed — not advertised — discount.
  5. 5. Read the exit path. Check move, transfer, cancellation, notice and early-termination clauses.

No. New Jersey has a relevant framework or program, but open capacity depends on utility territory, project status and customer eligibility. Verify an exact project before treating community solar as available at your address.

Add the provider payment, utility charges, fees and any escalator, then subtract the bill credits under the current tariff. Ask for a sample bill and the full multi-year payment schedule. A green-energy premium is not the same as a discounted bill-credit subscription.
The contract controls. Check whether the subscription can move within the utility territory, how much notice is required, whether another customer must take it over and whether an early-termination fee or buyout applies.
